Surgiflo Hemostatic Matrix

What is Surgiflo?

Surgiflo Hemostatic Matrix is a flowable, gelatin-based hemostat from Ethicon. It is used with thrombin, and its flowable format lets surgeons apply it to irregular surfaces and hard-to-reach areas. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for use for preparation and application.

• 8ml matrix (2991, 2994): hemostatic matrix in an 8ml format, used with thrombin supplied separately.
• Kit with Thrombin (SF2995): a kit that includes thrombin for preparation at the point of use.

How it compares with other hemostats

This matrix is often compared with Floseal Hemostatic Matrix, another flowable gelatin hemostat, and with powders such as Arista AH. Sheet hemostats such as Surgicel are common alternatives for surface oozing. The best choice depends on the type of bleeding, the surgical site and your surgeons' preferences.
